ATTENTION ALL DANCERS!
OUR NEW WEEKLY DANCE VENUE!
Due to renovations at Hazel Parker Playground, we will be having our swing dances at another location
.We have found a new temporary venue! It is called St. Julian Devine Center, 1 Cooper Street in downtown Charleston. Our first night will be this Saturday, November 28th.
Please still continue to check the website and for e-mails about updates.
Very important: The dances will be on Fridays or Saturdays. Here are some upcoming dances.
Nov 28th, Saturday
Dec 5th, Saturday- dance only 8-11pm; NO LESSONS; Lindy Loves Soul
Dec 11th, Friday
Dec 18th, Friday
Dec 26th, Saturday lessons/dj with Cristina & Bryan
Jan 1-2, NO CSDA SWING DANCE; Marisa may arrange a location for swing dancers to meet
Starting on Jan 8th, the swing dances will be on Friday nights instead of on Saturdays at the St. Julian Devine Center.
Note that on Feb 12th, we will have a Gage Hall dance, our Valentine’s day semi-formal dance, instead of the dance at the St. Julian Devine Center. Gage Hall is located downtown at 4 Archdale Street, next to the Unitarian Church.
We plan to be back at Hazel Parker Playground for Saturday night dances once the renovations are completed.
The lessons will be at 6pm (intermediate) and 7pm (basic) and the dance 8-11pm. Admission price is $5 general admission and $3 for CSDA members.
We will be on the third floor of the building with a beautiful view of the Cooper River and the bridge! The dance floor is a smooth tile floor. St. Julian Devine Center is a city-owned community center. It is a brick building with very tall double smoke stacks near the entrance to the Arthur Ravenal Bridge on East Bay Street. If you are driving up East Bay Street toward the bridge, the building is on the left before the entrance to the bridge. It doesn't have a large sign, but you can't miss the very tall double smoke stacks! The entrance to the building is on Drake Street, near the corner of Cooper Street. There is parking lot next to the building and a gravel lot across Cooper Street.
